Music Therapy
When dealing with a mental health disorder, music therapy can help with communication and expression, help one to explore thoughts and feelings, improve one’s mood and concentration and develop coping skills. Music therapy can help decrease chronic pain, anxiety, fatigue and depression.
The benefits
Music stimulates brain function in different areas responsible for processing emotions, memories, and language. These areas include: The frontal lobe (thinking, decision-making).
Research shows a clear link between health and music: music therapy can be used to help combat depression and heal trauma, and listening to music has been shown to reduce heart rate, lower blood pressure and decrease stress levels.
